The purpose of the new building was to cater for small groups of pupils in a safe, nurturing and differentiated setting, so that individual needs are met and individual progress is made.
Design and layout requirements for the ‘ARC’ (Additionally Resourced Centre) included:
• A sensory room for calming
• A safe space in every classroom
• A study hub
• A bespoke Science Laboratory
• Three classrooms with state of the art interactive touch screen monitors
• A suite of computers
• Access to a decked area for outdoor pursuits
• Male, Female, Disabled toilets and changing facilities
• Meeting room
• Neutral environment to soothe learners
Through a collaborative approach the layout was created, and each individual space was specifically designed by us to enable the teaching staff to enhance the learning and development needs of each pupil.
The new building has state-of-the-art teaching facilities, and areas for pupils to retreat to and feel safe if the day becomes to overwhelming.
The exterior finish of the building is bespoke cladding, so that the building has a warm and inviting appearance.
An outdoor decking area was also included in the design to provide a safe area for outside activities.
Modular School Buildings
Modern Methods of Construction lend themselves perfectly for the design and construction of new school buildings that benefit from a truly unique modular approach.
A modular school building is one that is constructed off-site as individual units and is then transported to site and erected into a complete building. Modular school buildings are the perfect solution to additional classroom blocks, sports halls, science labs, humanities blocks and sixth form buildings. The end results is often indistinguishable from a traditional school building.
