requirements

An exciting and complex project which combined the demolition of old mobile classrooms to make way for 10 new permanent classrooms along with dedicated space for the school to run a vocational diploma for marine career courses.

The site was next to a Grade 2 listed building with English Heritage protection and also surrounded by trees.

Modulek provided a turnkey solution and was able to work with the client, local planners and English Heritage to consolidate the exiting mobile classrooms into a workable space that not only met planning restrictions but also the needs of the school.

With 300 pupils to relocate by the start of the Autumn term, demolition work took place over the Easter holidays and the building was craned in during the May half term to minimise disruption to the school day.

the building

A stunning result that not only met the demands in terms of design and planning but also solved the schools challenge of integrating separate classrooms into one bespoke building.

Meeting the schools needs for new and improved facilities and also providing a specialist area for its new marine course for students and the wider community.

All pupils were able to start the Autumn term in their new classrooms and enjoy the new site which opened up stunning views of the Solent.

All on time and within budget.
