overview
Hamble Yacht Services were looking for a turnkey solution for a new building to accommodate flexible new letting space for new tenants and provide a smart new head office for its Harbour Master.
The building accommodates retail space and facilities on the ground floor and the first floor is now home to the Harbour Master and staff working at the marina.
design
Standing on reclaimed land and on the bank of the estuary, it was important that the construction process could be designed to meet these environmental challenges and be delivered and installed within a very short build window, to satisfy the Local Authority and Environmental Officers.
The external design of the building was very important. Situated in prime view of a busy leisure and racing marine industry, the building shape was paramount to the client to maximise the branding of the site.
investment
With demand at the Marina for letting space and new facilities for tenants, it was imperative that the building was designed with flexibility in mind so that it could increase revenue but also be reconfigured in the future to meet long-term business objectives.
sustainability
The building sits on a SSI site and is surrounded by nesting birds, so special attention was paid to the design and delivery. Working with environmental officers to ensure that the build was completed within a very small window was paramount to the project’s planning requirements. Reducing risk to the environment was also a key component to the build.
