Sports building

Sheffield Wednesday

Improving and maximising performance is key at any professional sports club. Sheffield Wednesday were keen to invest in a training pavilion where the latest technology could be utilised for player fitness, performance, and wellbeing.

A dedicated new 2 storey building was designed to house a fitness and gym area, changing facilities, physio and treatment facilities, a player’s lounge and new office space for club staff.

Modulek designed the building so that the gym area had views out onto the training pitches and engineered the gym area with a strengthened floor. The changing facilities were designed with space in mind, and the players lounge was created to provide a comfortable area for relaxation after training.

The physio and treatment rooms included a hydra pool, ice bath, sauna and cyrosauna, so that the latest technology could be used to improve treatments available and ensure longevity for players.

The building was designed to be relocatable so that in the future the club could move or repurpose the building to ensure maximum return from their investment.

This project was manufactured and delivered to site in just 6 weeks from signing contracts. Modulek worked in conjunction with the club’s appointed groundworkers, a local company who were a club sponsor. 6 weeks after delivery and installation, the building was finished and handed over to the club, ready for the start of the new season.
