Involved from beginning to end, a turnkey service provided ease of communication and speed to this school project:

“The great thing about early engagement on a school project is all the early considerations that are made. Such as the discussions about safeguarding the children within the school environment. Considerations for the wider community, such as neighbours. Logistics of how the materials are going to come into a busy school environment. All of these were considered by Modulek, enabling the build to run as smoothly as possible.”

Sarah Hickman, Central Liaison Officer, Viking Academy Trust.

Access and aesthetics were key challenges for this build, as the school is located on a narrow residential road. Neighbours are also in close proximity, so getting the design of the Sports hall right was paramount to a successful planning submission.

The Building

The school needed a brand new Sports hall with toilets, changing rooms and a kitchen area delivered within a fixed budget and timeframe set by CIF funding for the project. A true hybrid construction method was the only build method that could meet this requirement. A mix of modular for the changing and kitchen building was adjoined to a portal frame sports hall, using a traditional construction method assembled on-site.

The end result has provided huge benefits to children and sports leaders at the school. The self-contained facilities now allow children to change and access the toilets on site. This means little time is wasted through transitions back and forth from the schools main site and the sports hall. Allowing for more sport to be enjoyed and carried out.
